Hi again,

if you’ve seen my previous thread, you’ll know I recently had a narrow escape with key-sync issues and I’m now experiencing the anxiety of having only one key/Rob.

I xoukdbe kept going with the discussion there but I thought this warranted a different thread.

so, the question is:

I have one working key and fob
I can read the fob code in Nani on and I know the EKA -although couldn’t enter it via the lock.

I’d like a backup spare key, just-in-case and I wondered what the best option might be.

I’d just go thr the dealer if it was reasonable but have been quoted £258 up-front for a replacement which is a bit eye-watering:

is it possible for an auto locksmith to ‘clone’ a key / fob from a working one ?

if I turn off the immobiliser and EKA in nanocon dan I get away with just a key and no fob ?

or do I just go to the dealer and empty my wallet ?

thsnks for your help and advice !

Bob

I believe someone used a guy North Wales Classic or something like that, you could get a blade cut and try it,my old 94 P38 had three fobs and a blade and all worked.

Hi,

just a wee update.
Spoke to CRNW and they were great, sent them my fob code, lock set bar code and a pic of the key and placed an order around 16:30 on Friday and had a fully-working replacement key by Saturday lunchtime.

Seems to do everything the original does.

top service and good product for £137 -half the dealer cost (and the dealer quoted a 6-week wait too !)

The dealers just say that to cover themselves. Usually takes a day or so. That's about what I paid from the dealer maybe 8 or 9 years ago.

Much better than the €300+ for an OEM FOB over here
