One of the next issues on my rangie is that I only have one ignition key. I do have another key and that works on the door and glove box. It looks like my car has had a replacement ignition fitted but they couldn't be bothered to change the rest of the locks. Where is the info stored for the transponder? Is it bcu, ECU or in the ignition switch itself?

There's a procedure for pairing keys on a youtube video so if both keys will pair you can just get a new key cut.

EDIT:- a new transponder ain't cheap.

I've had a quote from land rover and it's £1000 for a lock set and two keys. Ive seen a few sets on ebay and they tend to include ECU,bcu and locks/keys. I will keep an eye out for one that includes the ews.
Thanks

But if the transponders in both your keys work with the car IMO you can get a blank key for a fraction of that price.
No idea how much for just the correct ignition barrel thought.
