Hi,

Following leaving my rangie for a couple of weeks round returned to find a flat battery, this has never happened before so I suspect rf interference.

Took battery of charged up, keycode lockout on dash. Left 1/2 hour message gone press remote. Now the remote won't resynch and the eka seems to have no effect, hazards keep flashing, no signs the eka is going in. Tailgate locks and unlocks ok. Turning the key in the lock locks the doors if I open them but won't unlock.

Research on here suggests corrupted becm, is there a way to confirm this without diagnostics? Or is a nanocom purchase my only option?

Thanks all

UPDATE, now sorted sticky microswitches in door lock.

If the battery went flat on the car and it was locked with the FOB then opened with the key it will be alarmed. Maybe the BECM has had a tiz and needs resetting. Nanocom will do that. But you MUST know what you are doing.

Just had a chat with a local repairer, he has Nanocom but he says if the settings have changed (France, LHD etc) he is unable to reset them and my only solution is 2nd hand bcm and locks. I have experience with diagnostics but the kit I have access to ( Bosch) won't give me access obviously.

I have been toying with Nanocom but I don't want to part with nearly £400 and then find it can't do it! That said if the bcm is that corrupted then I'll still need another but at least I can diagnose it!

Tell him, Bull****. If the BECM is locked and in lockout, talk to Rick the Pick. If it's not locked can be done with Nanocom.

Should there be a confirmation when you are entering the code as there seems to be conflicting info on this. Can't see any reaction from the car when attempting eka but when I was fiddling with the door lock it suddenly came up keycode lockout again so I assume the bcm is receiving something.

Lol thats what I thought, however it appears the only way to find out if its locked is to plug it in......

Keycode lockout means you have entered the wrong EKA code to many times. When it goes off again after two attempts without success open and close the drivers door. DO NOT enter EKA three times incorrectly or you will get keycode lockout. If you can't get the EKA code in you need diag on it to see what is going on. Don't bugger about or you will end up in the ****.

You should see the side light warning light on the dash flash each time you turn the key whilst entering the EKA code. :)

Probably not the answer, but as my recent post "EKA stupidity" i got away with twisting and holding the Key in the unlock position till the flashing alarm light on the dash went out then put the key in the ignition and it sync'd by itself.
Please don't batter me if this is duff info but it worked for me and i got away with it because i don't even know the EKA.
Worth a try?

Oh, you had better get the EKA code before you need it. Main stealers, go with reg doc and proof of ID. Don't go to the robbing bastards in Chester, it should be free but they charged me

Seem to recall that when it starts speaking French, insists on being called Fifi, and smells of onions and garlic, it really means "Can I have a decent charged battery please?"

G~

All sorted! Checked microswitches in drivers door and lock switch was sticky. Gave it some exercise (!) and I was able to resynch remote. New door lock required then!

Thanks for all the advice once again.

Good lad well done. Thought we were in for a multi page thread like the last "My battery went flat and car won't take the EKA code" one. :):)

Think the door lock may have caused my flat battery initially. When I was trying eka, kept getting door open message even though door was shut. Might try a strip and clean as a new one is £160 and a second hand one will be the same age as mine and probably on borrowed time anyway. Will keep you posted.

I might have a spare microswitch in the shed somewhere. It'll be off an old one and I cannot guarantee it is any better than yours but can have a look if you like.

Most people have to replace the drivers door lock & sometimes more than once, so you might get a nearly new used lock for £40
Try Emmotts of Colne. I get all mine from thwem & never ever had a problem. In fact, never had a problem with any part I've purchased from them.

If the door lock is misbehaving, a quick clean & service, if you're lucky might do the trick, But through my experiance, just buy another one. The new door locks are farmed out to a company in china I think, & these pieces of ****e have been known to fault within 24 hours of fitting, So I always purchased good used locks.

Interesting there was me thinking a nice new Land Rover part would be the best choice and it appears a second hand one might be better... thanks for the advice I think I will take it apart now then if the new ones aren't that good.

It's possible to get new motors and micro switches and just overhaul your own lock.
