Hi, I'm new to Landyzone but would be grateful of your assistance...

I have a 52 plate (2003 model) Range Rover Vogue

The battery was flat so I've charged it and re-fitted it.

I can now start the car perfectly, then when I stop the engine and try to start it again, the key will not turn in the ignition barrel.

If I disconnect the battery, then re-connect the battery, I can turn the key and start the car - if I stop the engine and try to start it again, the key will not turn in the ignition barrel.... again?!?!?!

Any ideas please?
Thanks, Alison

Could still be low voltage from the battery, check it is park and cycle through PND and try wiggling steering wheel and also press the brake pedal, just a thought?

Key can't be removed or turned with the Gear selector in anything other than P or N..

If the selection cable is loose and is not fully engaged in P or N...it won't release the key...

That being said, the act of removing the Battery will release the Solenoid that locks the key in place - so my thoughts would be taking the iggy barrel out and lubing the Solenoid and pin!

Thanks for you replies so far :)

Sadly, I don't have a spare key...

The battery is fully charged, because it starts the engine - I'll try running through the gears & brake pedal scenario...

Okay everyone, you can 'stand down' - I've fixed it...... Well I haven't, but I went with my gut feeling (again) and asked my mechanic to check and re-set diagnostics and hey presto, it worked :)

I can now turn the key fully in the ignition, each and every time I try and it starts every time....

Thanks to all who responded to my plea....
Alison
