If it is flashing it is working. But if the car is a later model with the stupid push in clip connecting the rod to the lock barrel lever, it is likely that has come adrift. Or the key would open the door. If the rod has come off it cannot be synced, if he cannot get the key in the ignition it can't be synced. Locksmith may get it open.
