Hi Guys

Changed the old knackered cases on the P38 keys with new pattern ones and then when through setting the starting again using the turn the key in the lock method and all now OK opening and closing on the key but not on the remote

The message display now says key low battery or similar and yet both keys are fitted with new batteries and the red light is illuminating for both open and closed as the button is pressed but as said above the central locking is not working from the keys now ?

Any advice welcome as always

Cheers

OK in the manual is says just put it in the ignition and it will auto re-sync
:)

however it still shows low battery even after cleaning the contacts and changing the batteries again for new ones and the leds are fl;ashing away no bother and very bright ?

Check to see if the aerial is connected to the receiver.

Yep everything is connected and all was working fine before I changed the batteries and the cases ? The electronic board etc was obviously changed over to the new case so I am struggling to see why the low battery message will not go out ?

I do not think it does ? should it ?

Yes it should, mine does and I believe yours is a 2001 too

suggest you try it out - thats the so called friendly sync

On vehicles from 97MY, friendly resynchronisation
was introduced on vehicles with passive
immobilisation. A remote handset that is not
synchronised to the BeCM will automatically be
resynchronised when the key is inserted in the ignition
without using the vehicle key or Emergency Key
Access (EKA) procedure.
The resynchronisation uses a pick-up coil in the
remote handset and a passive coil located around the
ignition barrel. The passive coil provides a signal for
the remote handset to transmit an unlock signal to
remobilise the vehicle.

Thanks a lot for the help, mine does not flash at all when put into the ignition or when turned to auxiliary or to ignition on, however miraculously the low bat light message is now gone off so all is well with the P38 world again (well nearly all still have an airbag failed message !! another day another problem though):D
