Hi a m8 of mine has a 1995 disco v8 and his key fob is playing up so he wants to get a new one. He has the fob with 2 buttons on it my question is can he buy a second hand fob and get it recoded (by a inderpendent garage) or does he need to buy a new one and have it coded by a main dealer? Thanks in advance.

Easy YES & NO Just make sure the operating frequency of the fob matches that of the ECU. It's still best to get new from people such as Remote key.

A new one from main dealer is only about £75, thats where my money went. Well worth paying it too

We sell them here at frogs island for around £50 but it will need coding!
