Hello
I have a 2008 FL2 with 2 remote fobs
Both fobs have flat batteries, if I put new rechargeable batteries in the fobs do I need to get them recoded
Thanks

You shouldn’t need to recode them. Just use them regularly to get them charged up.

The batteries need soldering in. You can also get new cases, which will be needed as the case needs breaking open to change the battery.

I'm now having problems with the fob on my Freelander 2, the main issue is that it goes into the slot all the way and then nothing else happens, steering lock stays on, no instrumentation and engine won't start

The key will not eject, I have tried both keys with the same outcome

The car is currently stuck in Glasgow, can anybody recommend someone in the Glasgow area mono f possible that would be able to look at the fob dock/slot

Thanks

I assume it has always worked ok previously? Does the satnav come on? Try jiggling the steering as you put the key in. Until the steering lock comes off you will get nothing to work other than interior lights and the satnav. The steering lock turns off the immobiliser (The flashing red light on the dash)

Sounds like a dock or steering lock issue to me, so try jiggling the steering wheel while inserting the fob.

There is also an issue caused by a passengers feet on some of the wiring around the fuse box, which can cause this no power issue, so give those wires a wiggle too.

How old is the battery on the car? a failing battery or failed battery on an FL2 will cause all sorts of problems to the electric system, so first make sure the battery is good, if so then do a battery re-set in you remove the battery pos & neg for 30 minutes, make sure you leave the bonnet open while you are doing this and see how that fairs.
