ere Adam - i thought yu did a write-up about this that is in the gen q's and answers bit.

If yu aint - it mite be a good idea - I am sure yu are sick of repeating the same guff every time;)?

LOL! that's a fine idea! I will create a full FAQ re the RF receiver and I'll get one of the admin/mods to create a sticky.

That's a damn fine price and well worth the money on any P38 fitted with anything less!

I think what your referring to is the sensor that recognises the key and verifies same with the security system to allow only 2 keyfobs or handsets as LR like to call them, to start the car, but it requires two security checks...1) with the handset (keyfob) and then the barrel sensor for the correct key.

ah! that would make sence, still its seems his problem is now sorted so smiles alround :D

Thanks darklordvader, who just solve my fault with my keys as well.

Ones now working perfectly and the other now works but still reports low battery after it's 3 set of new batteries, The red light doesn't light up so i suspect the key, will do as a spare.

Eventually handsets do wear out, mine did and cost £116 each to replace. Don't buy cheap replacements with the split key and fob combo....only purchase official handsets from Land Rover ONLY........and especially don't let someone use a data recorder to record your keyfob.....your RR may land up on eBay as stolen.....just a word of warning...

I've had a similar problem for the past week - so bloody frustrating - but now cured. Changed batteries in keyfob, red light working but no response from the central locking and immobiliser. I did manage to get the immobiliser to 'mobilise' by using the Key access code but that was very hit-and-miss, and very tedious.
After scouring these pages and trying all sorts of combinations of pressing and holding buttons whilst turning the key in the lock, I followed the advice of one person and disconnected the car's battery. The advice was to disconnect for 10 minutes, but I decided to put the battery on charge overnight while I was at it.
This morning I connected up and pressed the keyfob - nothing. Then I used the key to lock the car and the alarm gave a bleep. Pressed the keyfob and it worked. Now I have a fully functioning car again, doing all that it should do.
Hope this helps - it's certainly filled me with Christmas cheer.
Compliments of the season to all.

Hi I have a 1995 p38 4.6 hse it has a message on dash saying key code lockout I tried putting in EKA code but no joy the red light in dash didn't go off and the alarm goes off when I open door.
