Disconnect the battery negative, test the battery voltage is good, if the voltage is good (12.8V or more) replace the negative in one quick clean move to avoid sparking and see if it clears the fault. It does on my spares dog.

had same thing some time ago ,had to wait 30 minits or so till some thing on the dash went off ,think its four times left then enter code(made me sweat)

Sorted it!!
Waited 45mins after reconnecting the battery untill the "key code lockout" message turned off then it accepted it first attempt
Thanks every one for your help
Thats another thing ticked off the list:D

this worked on my 1995 p38, press unlock on remote,4 turns left enter code one turn to right after code has gone in,if you have done this correctly the locks will pop up.
you have to have good door locks too any iffy micro switches and you cannot get the code in.

One has to be careful about this four turns to the left on the early P38s as they did not require it.My !995 4.6 does not require the four turns to the left to successfully enter the EKA code.I believe the four turns to the left became relevant sometime in the 1996 models onwards.

my car is a 96 N reg but in the hand book it mensions nothing about the 4 left turns
guess mine was built 95 but sold 96
best thing to do is try both with and without the 4 left turns before moving on if your car is pre97
dont know if its relivant but when i turned the key before entering anything it beeped on the horn dont know if it would do this if it needs the 4 left turns first
