my disco 2 td5 has just come back from having the head gasket done and head skimmed however the garage say they wont honour the parts and labour warranty whilst i have a kenlowe fan fitted its the 17" fan they say its not manly enough and wont cool the intercoolers so before i shell out for a new viscous unit i thought i would ask you guys thanks

but surely the intercooler requires more air the higher the turbo pressure? and as that will be directly related to the speed? Once at speed the air charge will naturally be above and beyond any viscous fans range I don't understand the problem??

Kenlow / Electric fan if you ever need to Wade!

As a rule many garages wont honour the warranty unless the vehicle is totally standard (in the ares of concern, a change of wheels e.t.c. is not a problem), this is not down the the garage being arsey but down the the parts suppliers, my suppliers wont up hold a warranty unless its as the manufacturers designed it and to be honest I agree with them, any modifications can cause unknown issues which may affect the work thats been carried out, you may think that its OK but you haven't spent millions in R&D like the manufacturers have...

ah, then its your fault you live in the wrong part of the world.
go live in tropical or sub tropical regions,

your prayers be answered lad....:mooning:

fit the viscous back on ,they work unless youve a good reason not to
must admit I agree wiv james dammit..

fit & forget factory fan.
it works hard only when you need it too!

I`ve got a matched pair of leccie fans from some french toy of a car,
its a "I`ll fit em one day" sort of thing..

never found the need for that day to come,
so they sit hiding in my shed..... :)

the reason i never fitted viscous is my car was involved in a crash and the battery eat the fan so when i was repairing it the cost of replacing it with a kenlowe made sense not so sure now as now nursing £950 dent in credit card that could have been caused by the fan. i think i will buy a viscos just to have on standby in case of a problem;);)
