if you put your location there may be someone nearby with nanocom or hawkeye. i would also check you have not misfueled had similar with mine last year.turned out swmbo put £20 unleaded in.couldnt really smell it when i swapped pump only noticed when i put some in an old hub cap and dropped a match in.

thanks for that ive only put derv in the tank my location is ashford middlesex if anyone near me has a nanocom or hawkeye that could check it i would b greatfull cheers

Hi Richard,

I had a disco 2 at that lately - not good - I had to replace the ecu - a tiny resitor in the ecu got fried. - Have a look at my posts and you'll see a photo of the resistor and it's location in the ecu. I also had to replace the wastegate modulator as it was goosed too, but shouldn't of caused the symptoms that you are talking about.

Hope I'm wrong.

Joe.

after going through everything again to double check took it for a run and it cut out again the fuel pump stopped running when it cut out turn off ignition then turned it back on and pump started running ??

You say that you have changed the fuel pump? Does the multiplug on the fuel pump have a good connection? Is the pump quite loud when working? If it is it will be goosed! The symptoms sound like a knackered fuel pump, might be worth stripping it out again for inspection, check the pump filters and also check for any debris in the tank.

its a new pump it doesnt sound loud but it sounds like it has to pressurize before u can start it and when it cuts out it takes time to start again so frustrating

How easy is it to start? Do you have to prime the fuel system before starting the engine and how far does it drive before cutting out or is it random?

Have you changed the fuel filter?

Don't worry about the pump not running when the car stops it doesn't mean anything the pump stops because the engine stops.

when it stops it takes a while to start again like turning over and over before it fires up ive changed fuel filter it tends to cut out after you open it up then come off the throttle any ideas im stumped as ive said ive changed fuel pump fuel filter fuel regulator fuel pump relay turbo intercooler hoses injector loom and external wiring loom from injector loom to ecu

Its worth changing injector washers to rule that out, there is a step by step with pics on here somewhere, fairly easy job. Could be drawing in air or there is still air in the fuel gallery. Maybe try the priming sequence to bleed air out the system, you may find it will start a lot better after that, it takes a good 10 - 20 mins to do, make sure you have plenty power in the battery while doing it. Fuel pump sounds as though it is operating normally.

Sounds like the injectors washers, mine done this on Thusrday last week it took a while start and then only drove about a mile before stopping. I had to prime the fuel system twice before it would start. Changed the washers on Sat and the engine now starts on a flick of the key.

Not all cars will act the same and from what you have done so far it's the only thing left to try. The parts cost around £5 and it takes about 3 hours to complete. Like eddmco said theres a good step by step thanks to Ratty here http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f67/td5-injector-seals-206864.html
