has anyone seen this or has it even been done before. i've got a 110 hicap i cant sell so this is the plan. buy a fairly tidy early station wagon (a-b-c reg with no mot for about a grand) and then make a double cab 4 door thing that botls onto the standard chassis, then cut everything off behind the back of the cab including the rear of the chassis and weld on the back half of my hicap giving me a 145'' ish wheelbase, then put on my 1100 x 16 (39'') michelins on it.

if i were to attempt any sort of double cab pick up type project, the one thing i personally think needs to look right is the rear of the roof. i think you need to use a truckcab rear panel and the back end of a truckcab roof, then manufacture the roof out of the front half of your original roof and sheet aluminium. otherwise it will look a complete bollocks with back end of the roof chopped off square ;)

I can almost visualise it looking like:

a mate of mine suggested the 6wheel thing but im really not that impressed with landy's that have wheels on the ground that aren't driven. very anal i know, just personaly cant see the point. im yet to find a suitable way of doing 6 wheel drive that
(a) i can afford
(b) doesn't invole a P.T.O out put. that system only spins the extra wheels at the same rate that they would in high range even in low box. then when you really need all 6 wheel drive (in ****y terrain) you cant use low.

like that would be nice but with f-off great hicap tub behind it:D

You could try rigging up a Hippo viscous coupling thing somehow.

Then you would have 4 x 6 most of the time but 6 x 6 in the mire.
