Been a bit since I needed a spanner in my hand (or in some cases a sledge hammer ;)) but the odd little niggle has started to rear their ugly heads, which is no surprise given MOT coming up in March....and after you have spent days and weeks putting right the major stuff - rebuilding the rear boot, arches, sills blah blah...

Diff lock light no longer working, but I know diff lock is, as have jacked it up to check, so reckon its the switch on the top housing, not a major thing, but a bugger to get to, and then the ABS light never went out this morning - whacked on the anchors, and it stopped and I am even sure the ABS still worked...so will need to take off all the wheels, take out the sensors, clean, bash back in, in the hope that a bit of muck or something has got in...

Then again, may jump back in for my ride home and everything is back working again - you have to love the 'love/hate' relationship you build up with your disco :D

I strive for the time I get in and 'everything' works as it should for at least 6 months......but where is the fun in that.....

I slowly remove everything that may break or is not needed to run and then, and only then do you keep one thing broken in the hope that as long as the vehicle feels like it is being a pain in the backside, it won't totally fook you over.

For this reason I keep the clock with a broken bulb............but my theory never works
 
I like your way of thinking, but if we remove everything that breaks, wonder how long it would take for you to be left with just a set of wheels....all fun and won't get me down esp when I have a few things planned like yourself ;) except for the bonnet mounted wheel :D
 
Did you sort your abs light out? Mine never went out this afternoon, which P'd me off, so I slammed ths brakes on, turned if off and had a general poke around under the bonnet, wriggling the connector on the abs pump and pulling wires around. Real amatuer 'i gavent got a clue' stuff. :) Got back in, drove off and the light went off
 
Yeah, when I got in it the same day to drive it home, went of as it normally should....its a Land Rover....

Now when I am locking it, the drivers door pops back up, and then sets off the alarm...can lock it with a key fine, so reckon its just got a bit stiff somewhere, as worked fine the 2 times I have already locked it today and the rest of the time.....its a Land Rover.....:rolleyes:
 
iv never seem my diff lock light it never worked but the 4wd does so.... and as for asb light, i dont have abs. its great fun with off road tyres on wet roads when the person in front stops quick.
yesterday on way home from work my alternator though it would be a good idea to throw its bearings and try and run without them, i managed to get to a pub carpark on the dual track with a bonnet throwing out **** loads of smoke and an alternator glowing red hot. so i stood on the bumper with cock in hand to cool it down as i could hear a crackling sound as it was about to go up. i hope no one eating a pub meal seen me lmao i should of turned the spot light off really.
to be honest i dont mind when lil things go wrong i like playing under the bonnet well you have to if you own a landy
got a new alternator today and tank is back on the road for a week or so lol
 
My ABS light has been on for ages, yesterday as I feathered the brake approaching the end of the road & got 'gritty' feeling brake pedal & light went off. Look at that I said to my wife, lights went out. About 200 yards later I slowed down for traffic lights and got horrible grating noise & same gritty feeling brakes & light's back on? Brake pedal normal again, brakes quickly & in a straight line.

The joys eh:p
 
Going to replace discs & pads all round but, would have thought if it was pads it would be like that all the time?
