I bought a 2004 TD5 about 8 months ago its the 5 seater no sunroofs to worry about.
Have done an oil service and filters will complete the EGR and decat once the bits arrive.
This is the second disco I have had first was the 4 lt V8 again 2004 nice motor but brakes a bit suspect with the auto box.
Had a P38 4.6 range rover this was also a nice motor but a bit old. This was overseas and petrol was cheap.
Now with the diesel unit should be better on MPG . Just one thing I had noticed was the throttle response is poor till it picks up the revs and the turbo pulls in. As I am new to the diesel is this normal or would it be a combination of the EGR being a bit gunged up. The car has 84,000 miles one owner but needs a bit of work but nothing major at the moment. I have all new calipers to put on to keep it in good nick.
Just changed the front fog lamp as it was corroded to bits quite a job but its done a few scews to grind off to get it out but its back clean and tidy.
Diesel pump is winning quite a lot so I expect that could be next, or is this normal on the units.
If its on the way out I have seem some quite cheap units for sale but the supplier says good if your selling the car. I guess they are not good for the long term. Anyone tried the cheap ones??
Will keep you posted on the EGR and de cat but any pointer would be good.
Have bought a scapper as well for spares as they are getting rare and will work on the engine rebuild over the winter.
Thanks guys.
