I have a 97 Disco 300TDI

Should I be bale to open the door with just the key and not set the alarm off?

Can I lock it with the key?

(as you can imagine, neither options is working out for me right now!)

I do have a key and fob, but my wife lsot the others, and we sometime "swap" cars during working hours, so, now we can't as only one of us has a fob.

When I try lock it with the key, nothing.
When I try open it with the key "WOO WOO WOOOW WOOOOOOOOW"....

1. No, your alarm system is voltage sensing hence the activating of the central locking activates the alarm.
2. Yes, no problem, although you will isolate the ultra-sonic movement detector in doing so, handy if keeping dogs etc in your vehicle.

You can disable the alarm with just the key by using the key access code... it is a faff though, involving turning the key upto 36 times!
