I just fitted a new battery to my disco, and I'm not getting a coil light
so she won't start, I'm thinking that it has something to do with the
starter motor or the solenoid, anyone else come across this???

will send cool mountain photo to anyone who can help me out!

thanks

are you seeing any lights when the ignition is on?

do any of your side lights work?

how do you know the battery is charged?

battery seems fine, brand new from the garage,

oil light and battery light come on when i turn the key,

headlights and indicators work, i thought it might be immobiliser,

but doors lock and unlock like they should,

i'm pretty sure it has a full charge because its turning over the starter

but won't catch, almost like it's not getting fuel, any ideas??

cheers. b

The door locking/unlocking/alarm function is one thing and the immobilizer is another. So it still can be an immob. fault. Check the red immob. light (the one with key on it) on the right of the dash when u turn the key to start the engine. It should stay off.

PS: Oops. I remembered than not all vehicles are fitted with this warning light... Anyway, try to override the engine immob. (the procedure is described in the user manual) and see what happens.
And it's a good idea to fill in the signature with your vehicle details, I had to search back through your posts to find what Disco you have, what year, bla-bla, 'cause you forgot to mention and the answers depend on that.

Check the relay that controls the glow plugs, it might be loose or faulty and not providing power to the glowplugs, I'm sure its located in the fuse box in the engine bay.

Unlike the Td5 the 300Tdi starts without the glow plugs even in subfreezing temperatures. Mine started acceptably at -10 C with all the glow plugs dead.

His problem is that nothing happens when he gets the key into START position. At least this is my understanding.
