please help guys i have been away from land rovers for a wile. in the past i have had a series 3 lwb petrol a v8 light weight and a early defender derv, but for the last ten years i have had a company vehicle.I have come in to a small sum of money due to a death in the family and would like to spend it on a landy. i want a swd defender but not sure what to get 200 300 td5 it will not get used all the time and may have to sit for periods but will have some off road use and snow in the winter i would like to still be driving it in twenty years time.i have thought about rebuilds on galvanized running gear but really need help

if you want one to keep get tdi best body work as possible replace chssis for galv rebuild engine axles gearbox etc fit new suspension, bushes etc

dont start on the wrong foot mate...

3 posts and already complaining about people not answering straight away, if you think the site is not helpfull... then go somewhere else, i doubt you'll find a landy site with so much info as here.

if you are going to buy a landy to sit for long periods of time....5k is a lot of money to be sat on the drive.

My 90 only gets used in the winter, rest of the time is on SORN, spent 3k on it, needs work done, but not major things, just bits here and there...

i dont think anyone can make the decision for you, you have the money you know how much you want to spend....

also depends if you know anything about mechanics or if you are going to give it to a garage everytime it needs work done....

:welcome2: Mine for sale... :D:D look in the for sale section... :D

Or look in the green lane section just put some pic'ys up from a trip out last saturday.... :D

look mate sorry for your loss this is a great site loads of help and advice.Ther is also a lot of banter no one on here knew it was your mother.Just family in the post.A lot of people veiw posts but don't answer that includes guests so sit back chill and try again.

How many have gone so far this year? Might have helped if the OP had mentioned it was his mother who had died, instead of taking the huff.

Wow 84 views and only 1 comment helpful bunch

So it's ok for you to be sarcastic and obnoxious, but we can't do the same to you because you play the death in the family sob story card.
Sorry for your loss, but you obviously weren't too upset to plan how you were gonna spend your inheritance.

His loss Gratch

Never been part of a community that has a much quality advice, decent folk and general laughter as LZ. Find it quite amazing for anyone that has trawled through the numerous psots to claim that the site is unhelpful!

If he'd waited more than a few hours before having a crack am sure loads will have offered advice and thoughts - it's just not always easy to respond immediately what with the day job and laying under our own Landys!

Budget, mechanical ability and indeed desire to undertake the work have to be key considerations IMO!
