I really dont want to have to put spacers on, as that's gotta be at least another 150quid, possibly more if I have to put on wider arches.

And can I put those width tyres on my standard rims, or would I need to get rims?

Also, thats quite a difference in diameter, nearly 10% according to the etyres calculator.

On a 'fender 225/75 will look tiiiiiny! You don't need spacers for 235/85 or 265/75, they are both 'standard' fits for the Defender. Wider arches aren't needed either.
