Does putting new grease or oil in the swivel balls lubricate the cv joints, or do you get to them some other way?

front hubs have oil filler at the front on the swivel housing.
most people buy one shot grease,
but i used a small greasegun of molygrease in each hub, then topped up with some EP 140 (should be EP 90) as I already had some handy.
a knocking CV at lock soon dissapeared!!
one shot does the same job, and helps stop the oil running out past the seal & rubber oilseal on ball swivells..
