Hello, I've bought my first Land Rover!! After looking for some time I found an '04 TD5 Landmark with 84k on it! Thoroughly pleased as I've had a lusting after the coveted green oval for some time now and have been lurking on this forum for easily ten years. This forum by the way, is an excellent resource, even just for dribbling over. The car is originally from Glasgow, it seems to have spent its life around that part of the world until now, it's jumped the Irish Sea to Northern Ireland.

Work its had its had so far includes;
  • Poly bushes all round
  • New rear chassis quarter
  • Injector loom
Over the week that I've got it I've tried to treat some of the rust thetas creeping into the door frames. I know the doors need torn down to have it down properly but for the mean time treating it will do. I've also fixed the CD player multi-changer so the cassette now comes out of the holder.

In the long run we would like to use the Landy for some light, if there is such a thing, off-roading as well as the family car so it has to be a happy medium. My background is VW so hopefully some of the skills will transfer across!

(Anyone any pointers for uploading images to threads? Can't get them to display properly)

How do matey welcome to LZ ... to add a pic from your device click on reply as if you were going to post a comment
scroll down the page until you see the upload file in the green box then it will give you an option to browse click
that & select your pic then you have the option to have it as a thumbnail or full size pic ;)

Cheers Kev

Yes I am indeed, I’m one of the admin on the mk2 golf owners club and I’m also on volkszone. I’ve a mk2 gti and a 75 beetle. I take your from the direction as well then?

I am. I've had water cooled VWs all my life - except for a mis-guided purchase of a Citroen BX!

Unfortunately, my Corrado was not built for hauling bags of cement and general crap so when I got my first Landy, I realised that it's what I should have been driving and the VW got relegated to the shed.

I have a Mk1 GTi, two Mk2 GTis and the Corrado VR6.
I'll get round to fixing them up one day!

thats exactly how it goes, its like a disease that grows haha ive found myself looking at series 3 109s but i need to get my beetle done. bought a second one, a 69, over christmas but its in a dire state. ill get round to it one day once i get the others done!

Haha, my Mk1 is in a dire state and sometimes I wish I hadn't bought it.

Then again, if it stays where it is for the next 20 years, I should make some money on it!

this is very true, they arent going down in value, even the mk3's are getting more valuable. theres just not enough hours in the day
