OK so I was looking for a 03/53/04/54/ L322 and I would really have loved an 05 with the later MOST electronics and touchscreen etc but I just coulsnt afford one. Then an 05 comes up for sale and its only advertised a day so I get in early and managed to haggle the guy down to £9200 as a cash sale next day. So I go and look at it and I already knew about a few things hence why it was cheap. Firstly his wife backed into a bollard and cracked the rear bumper, I saw evidence of this and had no reason to disbelieve hm. Also the passenger seat does not move with the switches and there is a scratch on the drivers window glass. this he says is where apparently a screw came loose inside and someone put the window up and that happened. Realistically I reckon its had a bump on that door and the window was down and a bolt or something got pushed into the glass etc etc. All this said I knew the risks and know I can fix most of this. When I got there he apologised and said his wife has just told him that the rear wash wipe doesnt work. He then says worst case scenario is a motor so ring up the main stealers and whatever it costs he'll knock that off the price. so I manage to get £200 off so its now £9K (cheap for an '05)

Ive had it a couple of days now and just got a chance to look at a few bits, the seat has me stumped for the time being as its all connected to the BCM and is difficult to test without full knowledge of pin outs but everything else via the BCM works fine as does the driver seat. The rear wiper motor I removed the panel today and found the panel itself had evidence of rusty looking water in there all stained brown. So im guessin the hose froze up one day expanded and split maybe soaking the electric motor? Also there is not much resistance when i push the blade round by hand (can anyone here confirm how easy it is to push theres by hand?) I have 12V at the middle connector on the main loom plug to the wiper motor, when I turn on the ignition I have 4 at the middle and 7 either side?? Weird!! but also I noticed I have no water jet which I was thinking would work fine regardless of the motor?? Anyone confirm this?

Only other thing I was wondering is if anyone here has a diagnostics that I can stick it on and would happily pay for the service? I would so love to buy an MSV Extreme from BBS but its just sooooo expensive, I know that it may well pay for itself in time but I cant really rely on that, if it wasnt limited to one car then it would be worth paying for as you could make a few quid helping others. Anyhow anyone who might be able to help get in touch as I would just like a good list of things that I need to sort then I can systematically just get on with them. Only other things im going to do as a preventitive measure is the gearbox oil and filter and a general service as the car has done 102K and has a full stamped history from main dealers, last one being at 96 and with me planning on 7000 mile services might as well just get it out of the way.

Thanks for taking the time to read.
Paul
Any help greatly appreciated.

Congrats....

Depending on Vin number the All Comms from RSW Solutions does the trick...

Upto 5A9999999 i think

You shouldn't have any movement in the wiper blade (maybe a smidge) but not floppy....

Get hold of RAVE - land rover service factory manual RAVE download land rover resource, service manual, workshop factory manual, download, rave, vehicles including discovery, series, defender, range rover, freelander, LR3, Handbooks, Catalog, Catalogue, Land Rover Inte and take a gander at the electrical diagrams for the seat movement - good luck with that one though :D:D:D

Need pics....

Ok sorry guys will upload some pics, I have rave as I also have my trusty disco1 v8 so I've made good use of rave, I put the pdf's in iBooks on iPad makes a great portable multi vehicle workshop manual :) so can you do all the same stuff with the all coms??

all comms is pretty limited IMO. but it does the EAS calibration that the hawkeye doesnt do.

better off with the faultmate MSV, just i cant contemplate spending a grand on it

+1

The All Comms is only a fault code reader and clearer - the MSV is ridiculusly expensive but there is also the GAP Diagnostic IID Tool which is pretty powerfull, but VIN Locked.....good thing with the IIDTool is it plugs into the OBD socket and all the functions are controlled using the Steering Wheel buttons and the message disply so no need for a laptop or anything, and it is small enough to fit in your pocket!!

I went for the All Comms due to price, but it does read codes and clear them, plus EAS Calibration.

TestBook T4 does up to 2005 but it would depend on the vin for your car if its late 2005?
Might be worth finding someone near you with TestBook.
Good luck with the car. Pics please.

You can see the damage on here too, and also some wear on the seat which a mate is going to sort on Saturday with a re tinting pigment or something?? He does it for a job so I guess he knows what he's on about, been quoted £150 for the bumper repair job.

Light guards are gone already believe me they are hideous and to think the previous owner said that was one of the things he loved about it and it was him that had them fitted, and as far as the facelift I cant work it out, its got facelift everything and Landrover said the VIN is a facelift model yet the grill on it is old hat?? I have been asking about it and have come to the conclusion that someone has had an unrecorded bump in it and put the wrong grill on maybe a secondhand one? The man at landrover said there are a few late registered '05's that have the old fronts on but not a lot just vehicles that were sat in the showroom for a long time. So not sure on that

It's not just the grille that is different on the facelifts

The bumper, lights and grille are all different

You can't fit an old shape grille to a facelift or visa versus.

Unsusual !!

Like you said, facelift inside but not outside

I can't see Landrover fitting facelift parts inside and keeping the old front ??

I can, they had stock to use up:rolleyes:

I think you have a prefaclift model

And someone has just changed the speaker grilles and updated the sat nav to a touch screen type

As the facelift has a different dash where the handbrake is etc..

Nice car and a lot for little money! Got my fave wheels on as well. Is is v8 petrol or td6 diesel?

Be careful when you remove the light guards as there will be holes left. Make sure you have it properly sealed or it will bite you with rust in a very short time.

£150 is about right for the bumper repair and respray.

I wouldn't bother repairing that bumper

You can probably pick up another one in eBay in the same colour for £80

Been looking on fleabay, there's quite a few prefaclift 2005's without the new front end but with the facelift interior parts
