Hi all I'm experiencing a shaking/juddery steering wheel after about a mile of traveling, if I ease off the gas it seems to disappear. It also seems to be getting worse.

Looked underneath and nothing is loose and wheels are less than 100 miles from being balanced.

I'm thinking the steering pump is being starved or steering box (that is about 500miles old.

This is on a 1989 defended 90 with a 200tdi discovery engine transfer. Any thoughts and advice appreciated

Nope it's all new..and when I ease off the gas it stop and doesn't come back again for a while. Was only doing it a bit before and I thought some thing was unbalanced, prop or wheel ect. It's puzzling me!

could be one of a hundred things

would u like us all to guess what it may be and throw some random things at you to keep you busy over the nxt few weeks or would you like to give us a bit more to go on?

Any one like to input some thing constructive instead of the half brain answers. All bolts, joints, screws are tight no play anywhere, props and wheels are new, only happens when driving in a straight line. I'm sure it's the pump running dry or the steering box, oil feels warm and is full in reservoir

get someone to rock steering wheel quite hard while you put your hand on various parts ,track rods etc, then jack each wheel and feel for any play

Done all of the usual cheeked bearings and track rod ends play in prop ect ect s im 99% sure it's steering pump or box or possibly pipe related any one not had these symptoms before?? Just unusual!

Get back on your box Wiltshireboy

if your convinced its the steering pump go off and fix it and stop bugging us for answers then you obviously know it all anyway, what do you need us for.halfwit

never heard of pump doing it tyres incorrect tracking the above and steering not set with box central and wheels running straight maybe

Thanks for the usefull post, unlike some idiot on here, the pump is not very old like most of the stuff on my truck! Would it be the box not aligned properly? As it is an interment fault?? I've even swooped the tyres and it still has the same problem, it's driving me mad.

On mines it was rear trailing arm bushes at chassis end . Did it right up till i changed them . They were fooked though

Yep could be a lot of things.....................

As WLM said - more info would help narrow it down BUT giving guys attitude won't make them help you...............

There could be someone reading this that knows exactly what the problem is but won't help because of the grief already given..................
