Look on YouTube there's a video of someone fitting a blanking plate but for now I'd just unbolt the whole propshaft and remove but leave the prop/IRD flange in place, if it turns out that your VCU is shot you can replace it for around £250 with bearings and you'll still have 4wd.

ok, today i took the whole prop off, found there were only 2 bolts holding the rear prop to the input shaft on the diff. it reverses better no juddering, no knocking etc. i also changed the aerial for a OE one. also the nsf door central locking unit so the door now locks on the button. i have welded up the rear door stop brackets that had fractured and come loose. i have also replaced the shabby black cloth seats for a newer facelift model leather set woohoo. so i now have a tidy looking car that drives well. i also got 190 miles out of £30 of diesel which i felt was good. hopefully it will be a little more now she's only 2 wheel drive!!!
Thanks for the help & info guys
Andy

You won't get better mpg because it's 2wd but because the knackered 4wd parts were causing more drag. You won't see a difference on a long straight run but you might get a difference around town.

we put in a new stereo at the weekend and now i actually quite like the car. Our other motor is a mk3 shogun Animal but as a smaller ute this is ok. More practical than my fiat coupe which is what it has replaced. Easier for the Grandchildren.
