Hi
First post, I am seeking some advice and guidance and trust you may be able to assist. My wife has a 2023 Evoque S. It was purchased from new. In September of last year she was driving, when the car, in her words, made a loud bang and stopped dead in the middle of the road. The force threw her forward and locked up the seatbelt and the dash indicated she had been in a collision. The road was clear and fortunately she had just turned out of a junction as was only doing circa 25mph. Without going into chapter and verse, after being recovered the car was off the road for nine weeks in a dealership being repaired. I was told the issue was a faulty seat belt module. We are both senior citizens and my wife found the incident so traumatic she has refused to drive the car again for fear it will reoccur. It really has caused a lot of upset and inconvenience.
I initially reached out to JLR customer services who had no interest, and said my contract was with the dealership and nothing to do with them. The dealership proved extremely difficult and I have pretty much been trying since last year to get any sort of meaningful response. I have been pushed from the dealer principle to the sales manager and finally yesterday by a salesman. They offered lots of platitudes and sympathy and assurances they would do the right thing. Their offer of settlement was to buy the car back at less than a price quoted on a car buying website.
Customer services, the dealership I purchased the car from and the dealership who did the repair all assured me this was a unique one off and none of them had ever seen this seat belt module failure before. Now call me a sceptic but I understand circa 100,000 evoques are produced every year. Making the assumption that there is some commonality with this part in other JLR models so the number must run to far in excess of that. And my wife has the only car where one has failed.
In conclusion, I never over egg things but had this occurred at speed my wife could easily have lost control of the vehicle and have been seriously injured or even killed. My question to the forum is, has anyone had a similar experience and can anyone offer advice where I could go next in an attempt to find some redress. Thank you for reading this, it is very much appreciated and if this topic is not a suitable one for the forum please accept my apologies.

Lr don't get involved with complaints about cars. Hence passing you back to the main dealer. Main dealers have their own mechanisms of contacting lr direct for warranty claims and problems etc. What they say is correct, yer contract of sale is with the dealer, not them. It is the main dealer you would take action against if there was a need.

9 weeks at a garage is a long time. Am I correct in finking they were waiting for parts for most of this time?

So far the main dealer has forefilled their obligstions to repair the car. The car now works. There's little chance of any further redress. It depends what yer looking for. Not trusting the car ain't enough. Being worried it may happen again ain't enough. The main dealer will normally test drive a car as part of an inspection process to check the fault has gone, and detect any other faults which may be present.

If yer really don't want the car they have offered to buy it back. It will be less than sale price as they will want to get back their costs of reselling it, and some profit. There isn't a big enough problem for them to give you a replacement car, or financial settlement. The car developed a fault. It was fixed.

Put some miles on the car to prove to yer mrs the car is ok.

Collision warning on the screen advises the car thought it had been in a crash. Or the fault made it fink that. I don't know if Evokes have auto braking if they sense they're about to hit somefink. Did the car brake hard or skid to a stop? Somefink jamming up in the transmission could cause it to brake suddenly with a skid. The module replaced could be a crash locked or faulty computer module or the pre tentionner fing if it fired.
