Hi all. I can't use the search function so apologies if this has already been covered.
I'll keep a very very long story as short as I can.
Weird slipping auto problems had me visiting a gearbox specialist to fix it.
He found the cooler was blocked and replaced with a new aftermarket cooler.
Most of the problems were then gone but a slip into neutral was left between 3rd and 4th causing massive rev increase if you're not expecting it.
To save time and eliminate the suspicion that it may be solenoids and/or valve body, he fitted a total brand new valve body unit which improved the overall operation but still left the 3-4 slip into neutral.
I've had to have the car back from him temporarily while I get MOT stuff sorted but anyone got any ideas what this could be so I can go back later armed with some info that will mean a quicker fix as I really can't manage without the car for long.
Thanks to all who can help.
Simon.

Could be clutch packs/as i don't think there Is anything left to try after that.

Does it change gear if you manually change it?
If it does, then it's electrical, TCM or CanBus related.

It reacts and slips just the same in manual mode too but at least you're expecting it in manual lol.
Then I would check it has the correct fluid level and fluid type. Check the barrel connectors at the front of the engine and other than the replacement solenoid being duff you could try a bottle of Lucas oil stop slip or get the clutch pack changed.
A bottle of additive would be cheaper and my first attempt.

sounds like the reverse piston, Mine had exactly the same fault. Auto specialist wanted £550+VAT to repair so I did it myself. New reverse piston, clutch rings and seals cost me £77 delivered then £60ish on 10 litres of gearbox oil as I wanted to flush it twice to make sure. Been absolutely brilliant since!! over 1000 miles and counting! Can do this job with gearbox in the car, just have to remove gearbox mount and bring down on a jack to get to the casing bolts. Took me about 3 hours but was taking my time. plenty of good information on this site on how to do it
