does anyone know what stereos the jap imports had fitted from new ?
i know there are options mine has an aftermarket stereo
and some muppet has chopped the wiring loom to fit it
the original block connectors are there for the power connections and ariel. Also it has the wiring for remote dash volume and tuner controls
and a multi plug for a multi stack cd player wich runs to underneath the drivers seat.
the problem is the speaker wires have been chopped into the loom in the passenger footwell behind the glove box .
where it appears to have been connected to an amplifier ( amp is still there but not connected) speaker wires have been copped in to the out put side of the loom from the amp.
but there is not a connection behind the stereo where they would have been originally
also decent wiring diagram would be good if anyone knows where to get one ???????

ill tell u for nowt that, that doesnt sound right at all. Use search function of forum to get a wiring diagram i posted one last week. If ya need more info just PM me

The original jap import stereo was most likely no good as the radios on them dont work properly for uk airwaves, it is also possible that the jap stereo had a factory amp in the system so connecting a new stereo to speaker wires on output side would make sense. I have had jap import cars before and the best thing to do with the stereos is take em out, remove un necessary wiring and start again with your own installation, you will end up with a far better system if you do it right.

ive spent a couple of hours with the dash in bits today !!!!
and yes I need to rewire the speker side of things
and it does have a factory amp in the oassenger footwell that it would appear i cant use
