I'm looking for a jack for a 90 about 11 years old, (the 90 not the jack!) General purpose, I have an airbag, and a trolley jack, advice in the best general purpose road type jack appreciated, even better if someone is selling one!
Cheers

Get a bottle jack.

The ones that are standard with a Mercedes Sprinter are good, they go much higher than most and are cheap 2nd hand on fleabay.

Bottle jack from a Rangie or a D1 is good - got one in my truck that is salvage from a long-departed RRC. I like the cradle on the top of it to sit under the axle housing - makes positioning easier.

A visit to the local scrappie would likely find you something in the jacks pile for a fiver if it's anything like the junkyards around here.

as others have said, a bottle jack from a disco 2 will work quite well, easier to store than the original jack, fram jacks are ok, providing you know how to use one properly!! and are also a pain to store.

Rangie or Disco bottle jack gets a vote from me, got mine free off a mate out of a scrap rangie.

Have you ever used one?:mad:I would rather use any of the ones mentioned above.

I have.....it's not the quickest, but i don't think its too bad, and since I don't keep anything else behind my seat (apart from oil, pas fluid etc), it doesn't take any space up for me either :)

If you get a non standard jack make sure it will go under the axle when you have a flat

I have a nice old Roots Group bottle jack from way back when, but I've used all three.
Standard jack is very slow, and you need to be sure of your crossmember sturdiness.
Farm Jack/Jackall etc is quick, but they do and will injure/maim when not used carefully.
