After looking at some very useful threads on here i've given my 300tdi fuel pump a tweak.
I've turned the diaphragm 90 deg cw and done the same with the cog however when i went to do the smoke screw the little cap wouldn't budge without me damaging it an i didn't want to make it obvious it had been played with, the tweak seems to have worked and my acceleration is better than ever.
But i'm just a bit concerned that not adjusting the smoke screw may have an adverse affect.
Can anybody put my mind at rest:confused:

Its the maximum fuel screw really, called smoke screw cos if its done wrong it will smoke like feck.:)

you dont always have to do all tweaks, i have only done the diaphragm stop screw and twiddled the diaphragm a little.

If you get 2 thin screwdrivers and gently lever it at each side it should come out, if not rip it out and do away with it or maybe refit a coreplug or something like that.
It's worth adjusting as it increases fuel at low boost so makes it a lot better setting off from a standstill and driving at low speed/ engine revs(more responsive).

don't worry about the cap. when the caps removed it doesn't look non standard. plus the recon pumps don't have the anti tamper caps on them i don't think
