I've got a misfiring problem with my 98 reg 2 litre turbo diesel Landrover Freelander.
It randomly misfires, it's not constant. It picks and chooses when to do it which makes the problem 10 times worse to pin point. I can be driving for half an hour and no misfires what so ever. Next half hour it can be misfiring a lot etc
My first suspect was the fuel filter. Changed that along with my air filter but its still intermittently misfiring.
I think I've kind of narrowed it down. This particular engine (L series Diesel engine) only has one needle lift sensor going into injector 1. When I disconnect that it doesn't misfire at all but the loss in power to the engine is pretty bad. It becomes much slower. Now I'm wondering if all I need to do is replace injector 1 along with the needle sensor but I want to be sure because it'll cost me over 100 quid for a new one I think.
Anybody with any idea or input, it's appreciated.
