My Freelander has extemely stiff opening rear doors. It's obviously the check straps. I've greased the daylights out of them to no avail. I've perused Ebay and no one sells them. Is it dealer (gulp) only or is there a mod or something??? I can actually see the "B" pillars flexing
Oh while I'm on the subject of gripes....my clutch pedal creaks like my missus opening her purse...... I've lubed it up but its still creaking .... is it like a Saab where the pedal box mounts flex and crack??

I've got a 3 door... so no direct experience..

Are you sure that it's not stiff door hinges?? I did have this on my front passanger door when I got the car..

Had a quick look at RAVE..

It says this for door removal:-

Remove
1. Release 'B/C' post upper finisher from 6 clips and position aside.
2. Release and disconnect multiplug from lower 'B/C' post.
3. Release harness sheath from 'B/C' post and pull door harness through 'B/C' post.
4. Remove roll pin from door check strap, and release check strap from 'B/C' post.
5. Discard roll pin.
6. Remove 2 'C' clips from door hinges.
7. With assistance raise and remove door.
Refit
1. With assistance position door to hinges.
2. Fit 'C' clips to hinge pins.
3. Position check strap to 'B/C' post and secure with NEW roll pin.
4. Feed door harness through 'B/C' post and secure harness sheath.
5. Connect and secure multiplug at base of 'B/C' post.
6. Position 'B/C' post upper finisher and secure with clips.
7. Check door alignment.

ive had to replace 3 of the 4 check straps on my doors - there are pattern parts available, i think i paid about £20 each for mine from LRDirect (I think it was them, if not, hunt around. deffo not ebay though)

When one went on my previous FL, it actually cracked the B post and needed welding, which was fun due to the proximity to the loom and seat belts etc.

Mine were bad for doing this through total lack of use. When I bought it they were almost as bad as yours are. I gave all inside a spray with wd40 and a good working and did this every other day for bit and they eventually freed up. Now just a regular scoot with spray grease. Try wd or something similar to try and get all ****e out of mechanism before greasing.

if you can take them off the car and soak them in a tub of penetrating fluid over night and clean up while off had this on my tdci mondeo only took a soak over night and clean up the next morning was good until i got rid of the car

It's pretty common for the B post bracket to fail. The check strap can get really hard to move.
