must have not been soldered up properly when manufactured, most likely just a odd one out.

well they use a foam or something now that shouldn't soak up petrol, but every now and then it happens ???
they will have a look and get a something back to me that works by Thursday... I hope lol

Yes, but working today, and tomorrow, and the day after........... something 32 weeks away = 2 days to get stuff done :-(...

OK big catch up to round off the saga!
Well most of everything was changed and updated... the Smoking carb was replaced and is now on the engine and running like a dream. the zenith copy was working as well so that's back on the shelf as a back up. The main problem turned out to be a duff coil (very weak spark) and a suspect champion plug. The drive to the MOT station was a pleasure and everything was going well until 3 areas of rust and a rumble that was put down to a wheel bearing stopped play :-(
So now welding done, bearing changed (still have a rumble so need to find that) But we have a MOT !
