If only using for the air-suspension, yes. If you're powering tools off it and airlockers and so forth then one with a higher duty cycle required.

I have an air outlet off the tank on mine in the loadspace, which I use to check/top up the air in the tyres - saved me a lot of hassle and got me out of problems a couple of times now - so it's a 'butchering' I'm happy I did.
But then I 'double butchered' my system and fitted a second P38 compressor in next to the EAS box to give the system a bit more power when using it to inflate tyres etc.

A cheap portable compressor would do the same job. Without butchering the car. But each to their own i suppose.

Indeed - each to their own... I don't see the point in carrying around another small 12V compressor when I've got a 10L air tank, a nice mounting place for a second EAS compressor (ABS Pump studs for a LHD - no drilling of bodywork required) and a couple of spare P38 compressors in the garage.
Butchering... I consider that cutting holes for silly sport vents which don't do anything, or attempting an l322 'facelift' where nothing actually lines up properly.
