It has to double as a family car - but then I can use the p38 for that. I'm getting a strange hankering for a Citroën C6. I've had all the previous big Citroëns and loved every one of them.

The good thing about relegating the p38 is I can abuse it off-road without worrying about breaking it.

Personally I prefer regular/frequent changes with the best oil I can get. 115K and the timing chain is still good on mine as is the modulation.
 
Had an old Guy artic unit that leaked oil from everywhere. Got a bit smoky after 250,000 miles. When the engine was stripped and the crank measured, the engineering shop thought it was a new standard crank. There was no wear at all. Would not want to buy the oil today, she used about 5 galls a week (shell rotella) for 2000-2500 miles.
