The Range Rover was delivered today!

Found out that coolant pours out from the bottom of the gearbox, probably because a core plug came out? So we need to take the engine out and replace those. The rest seems alright though, the chassis and sills are all in good condition and the only welding needed to be done is on the inner wings.

Anyone got any tips for getting the engine out? Have done one before but it wasn't a V8.

I know you cant judge things too well from pics...but you say theres only a bit of welding to do?? Bonnet, tailgate look rotten...loads of surface rust everywhere else...erm...are you sure its got a good chassis??

Politely it does look battle scarred, the box section sills are notorious and it doesn't run is an issue.

So the engine doesn't run and will have to come out...and the rest is pretty rotten.

All in all a good buy then?

I'd be very worried looking at that tailgate...the damage will not have stopped there..i wonder what the boot floor and side panels are like...i dunno, maybe i'm being harsh...but that looks like a huge moneypit.

Assuming it's an Auto, don't forget the flex plate bolts!

Also we have found getting to the top bell housing bolts is best done with about half a mile of socket extensions and basically working behind the gearbox with the ratchet.
