Well today I finally got finished with putting my refurbished heads back on and getting it all back together.
It wasn't without drama, had a head bolt go yesterday evening when doing it up. It was number 18 of the 20, so it's not like it was my first go. Off came the head again, new gasket and bolts as foc replacements.
Anyway, got it all back together over the course of the day and this evening. Took a few turns of the engine, then it fired up, much to my surprise
I'll give it a good look over tomorrow and see if it's cured the water use problem. If not it'll be a cracked block as all the liners were where they should be.
