Well my Td4's got me puzled yet again so wonder if any ideas folks......

Started spluttering/lumpy tickover at idle and throughout the speed range. Then went ok, then lumpy again. Took it to the stealers for full service and fuel filter change...£372 ...cough and they said found no fault codes and ran fine on test drive. Bunged insome redex for good measure.
Been fine all week - took the missus out yesterday and guess what....loss of power and lumpiness on the M6. Then fine again, got up to the peaks and guess what...spluttering up the hills....Pulled over, removed the manifold cover, unplugged the injector plugs and reconnected, all fine, then the MAF sensor and all fine.

This mornin same issue. Any ideas what to poke wiv next?

2003 Td4 commercial 106k.

Cheers,:)

My m8 had what sounds to be the same prob.He found that it was a loose wire going to no 1 injector.Like u he had taken it to the stealers who found nothing. Good luck

blimey 375 quid:eek: ...did they change crankcase filter as well for thet price?.......

Cheers folkeroonies ill get under tut bonnet and have a wiggle and a feel o the ol rubbers tomoz after work. Let you know what I find. Crankcase breather....ill check if thats been done too....ya never know!

My local LR tealer "forgot" put back on me undertray once....greet they are.!!

But does the MAF fail completely or just go intermittent????

Anyone know a good mechanic in the Mids area?

If it's lumpy at idle try pulling the injector connectors in turn to see if it is one injector in particular.

bloody things workin fine agin now.... well cant find any split pipes but hey ho. Had a good wiggle o the injector connectors and all fine. In the dark now so cant work on it anymore tonight....but does the lil rubber tube on the EGR valve on the right hand side o the engine connect to owt cos that lil monkeys dangling aboot?

The problems back . Limped back up the M1 the weekendb at 40 up the hills...bloody arse car! Still cant find the fault. driving fine again now..... help!!

But it doesn't have to be connected. Many people have disconnected it and plugged it to disable the EGR valve.

Allan

Allan's right, just make sure it's been plugged as the vacuum is also used to operate the variable vanes on the turbo apparently.

ours was doing that and found the hoses on the intercooler- turbo were goosed and also had blocked breathers!!!!!

after that it is running much better!!!!

Stealers tell me its the injectors - £615:mad:

It surely can't be all four of them at the same time. The price of a single injector in Jan this year I paid £200 for one (no exchange). I couldn't have exchanged it anyway 'cos I destroyed it when I was removing it. Try dosing it up with injector cleaner again.

could check wether any of the hoses have deteriorated on the inside, i had a problem that got steadily worst, loss of power if i eased of accelerator and when then back on there was no power, no more revs, problem got soo bad that even when parked up couldn't get the revs above 1500, with the bonnet up you could see the large hose at the front left of the engine, as you're looking at the car was being sucked in on it's self, turned out to be the last hose that went into the turbo, the inner wall of the hose had come away and was creating a flap that caused an air tight seal

Well its been back to the stealers....number 2 & 3 injectors faulty so replaced for £600 :( .....lets see if that was the problem....whats a 2003 td4 commercial with 64k on the clock (and more or less rebuilt....) worth anyway? May go Jap!
