There is a flimsy, but does the job, laser (or similar) compressor for about £12,that allows you to do it.

Gentlemen and Gentleladies...

The conclusion:

Once timed up correctly, and driving it to work this morning, I can report all is well with the 110 (so far! - MOT tomorrow morning!) A little puff on cold start, but once you get going, she is white/grey plume free.....

Not looking forward to the MOT tomorrow, but we cross bridges as we get to them.....

Thanks for all your comments and encouragement, hope the above How To helps!

MOT done, alls good, no advisories which is a bonus....Wednesdays hard work paid off....

Smoke test results:
Limit = 3.00 l/m
Test 1 = 1.80 l/m
Test 2 = 0.79 l/m
Test 3 = 0.51 l/m
Test 4 = 0.59 l/m

Mean value 0.63 l/m

Awesome sauce from a 29 year old car with a 21 year old engine!

I am very pleased, I picked her up for a snip, spent a bit of time and effort on Wednesday doing the timing belt, sprockets, woodruffs etc....and for her to pass without a hiccup is a bonus....don't get me wrong, I always go into an MOT with the mindset of 'Well if it fails on something - I'll have to fix it, simples' but I still get a tad nervous - mostly of telling the girlfriend how much it is going to cost (again) but she is a Landy driver herself and appreciates and knows the score with older cars!

The 1991 110 in my signature pic is hers.....
