If the passenger door is the problem, then you can do that but it's usually the drivers door micro switches that play up.
Have you checked the switch functions with Nanocom?
Drivers door to drivers door or passenger door to passenger door micro switch swaps are OK
The drivers door latch was replaced about four years ago and it's the passenger doors turn now.
It was making a wierd noise the other evening and when the car was turned off the door switch worked....
I'll check with the nano this afternoon. Thanks Keith. ;)

Morning all,
Worn door latch time..
Getting the warning for the door latch not errr... Latched.
So I found this and if recall correctly and I'm open to correction..

For the mgtf, is this true and has anyone else fitted this to theirs.
If I can save a few bucks on the vat plus the vat plus the admin plus the import charge... Of around another 100€ on top of a P38 spec.. Not that I can avoid the charges but....:)
https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-FQJ000010PMA is this an earlier model?
I have my scrapper car but it's lhd and I don't know if it can be modified or not but in reality I'd like a new replacement.
Added for those who can not yet read my mind!!
1999 rhd 2.5td.:p

It is kind of true. They fitted a couple of variations over the years with some not quite the same although the internal motors are the same and can be switched over. Think the separate earth wire plug went in '97 so yours will be a single plug.

I don't know if Marty is back in the UK yet and last I heard he had run out of stock im the UK. That may have changed because he was thinking of coming back around now at one stage.

Changing the microswitches on the early models is a piece of cake. I believe the later ones are a bit more involved - that's progress. :)

No problem on my MY2000.

That's the part that I fitted to mine 2 winters ago and its a lot cheaper now by about 50% but as you know where I live I phoned Rimmer's and gave them my vin number to be absolutely certain I got the right version for my year as apparently they did some minor changes. But as it was the drivers door on mine so don't know if that helps any Mate.

Yes, some fit, some don't. Depends on year of each car. Even if they don't fit the parts can be made to fit. The microswitches and motors in early latches just clip in and out. I seem to recall later ones were slightly different. Microswitches might have been soldered or had a bar through them? Similarly, I cannot recall if later ones had the motors soldered or not.

The micro switches are a group of 3 (2 0n passenger side?) encased in very thin plastic which has the lugs that locate the assembly. This is true on my very early P38 and my MY2000 and therein lies the problem. Replacement micro switches come as individual units, thus they have somehow to be assembled into a block and a means of locating the assembly has to be devised. The wire connections to the micro switches are not accessible as they are potted in the plastic outer case.

What a way to make things simple. Anyhow, update... It's behavior has become normal... Now an observation, I have leds in the puddles lights and the door in question had a flickering light. So, does the earth through the door closed micro switch also earth the puddle light?
I have rave but I don't have any wiring diagrams with it??? o_O

They might share the same earth or same earrh point. The loom will go through the A post to a connector. That connector might be worth a look, or flexing the loom near it.

Puddle lamp are part of the Interior Light system. Controlled by BECM, but driven via the door outstations. Bad door earth would probably cause all sorts of weird happenings.

I meant connectlor in the A-post. I guess you could check in the door too. I had a dodgy wire where someone hadn't clipped the loom in place and my earth wire had fouled the electric window mechanism.
I've heard this also about the window mech....

If you want RAVE complete with wiring diagrams, I can post you a copy on CD.
A dodgy earth is quite likely to cause problems.
That's the likely culprit. I would like a proper copy of ye ol' rave and thank you for your generous offer Keith.
