Needed 2 replacement rear brake disk retaining screws so went to Island. They wanted £5 P+P for 2 x 40p screws. Needless to say I didn't go through with that purchase.
Any ideas where I can get these with a realistic P+P?
One thing I am learning is while dealers prices may be high on some items it's worth calling them and asking, especially smaller items where many of the parts sellers want a fiver to post anything. I am calling in today to get the intermediate shaft for my transfer box and some injector seals cost is similar to big parts people but can pick up with no postage.
buying parts online is great but only if you need parts over say £30 to make the carriage worth it, brit-car may offer cheaper postage but worth calling them if it's not on the website. i've also just started using LR direct a lot more as it turns out they have a 2 free collection depots the one is in gloucester which is 20 mins away from me and i can collect unto 7.30 in the evening.
Island are very good on stocked items but their minimum £5.00 post is costing them trade for small items. You would have thought they would have realised this by now.
I've gone else where multiple times due to the £5.00 minimum. When I asked them about it apparently it is down to packages apparently not arriving in the past and having to front the cost of the item and a refund. So £5.00 minimum signed for, thought they could use multiple other cheaper services with a disclaimer at least...
Bought a track rod end today from Foundry 4x4, dearer than Island on the face of it but the price included VAT and free postage so worked out a lot cheaper.Worth shopping about. Us pensioners with two p38's and a whisky habit, not to mention the Jag's to maintain have to watch our pennies
