Mine runs well enough but has frequent niggles that are not due to lack of maintenance, like phantom locking at the moment.
When buying a second hand P38 I reckon you need to budget at least £1K t get it up to scratch, after that it will serve you quite well
Have changed things on the P38 for sure. Before it was retired in favour of the L322 it was ultra very reliable. True though that years of neglect can cause the need for a lot of work.
