Hi guys,

I've just been rooting around to find a live for central locking i'm fitting and came across this box. Is this an alarm, can somebody confirm?

As far as I was aware...I didn't have one. I just have (multiple) keys, no fob. How do these stock units work? Are they just an immobiliser? Should I have a special key/fob? Any reason why it would have been disconnected (i've not investigated any further than taking a pic do far, so might be connected, might not).

Assuming it is working, or can be, how would I go about getting a fob? Apologies for my ignorance, new to land rover :)

Ta in advance,

It's a 2001 TD5...

No it is the Dim-Dip system for the headlights.

It probably doesn't work anymore. Is it unplugged - when they failed they often failed in dimmed dip mode even with light switch off.

Oh, ok then. Why is there a reference to MHZ on there? Googling the top part number brings up 'Alarm Unit ECU' on multiple results... silly Land Rover, very confusing.

Oh aye it is an alarm ECU thing, looking at it now it does look different to the Lucas DimDip controller I can't read the codes from the picture.

Is it a Td5?

Have a chat with this company (he's bloody good) Land Rover EKA Code (Emergency Key Access) Code

I contacted him recently as I managed to activate a my factory immobiliser that I didn't know I had (via nanocom) I was left stranded on my driveway for 2 days (and lost 2 days work)

His device sorted it and I now have a factory immobiliser/key fob and apparently I could activate an alarm too if I wanted...!!

It still provides the correct code for the ecu to start the engine get a fob and you can program it up with nanocom

Ouch, just looked up the price. As much as i'd like one, I don't have that much disposable cash.

Anybody in Herts got one and I can pay in beer tokens? I need to verify the unit is even plugged in and functioning I guess.

Ta
