IMO nowhere cos as i've said on some early modells it was not fitted at all... my D2 never had one and i dont miss it, quite useless if the FPR and the injector copper washers are faultless... if you dont find it on your vehicle just forget about it
That chap in video is trying to sort out a fuel leek with his filter housing.
You likely have air getting into the system and @miktdish explains the result in post above. Air could be getting in at the filter itself or any connection right up to the engine.
The clear section of fuel pipe on mine I fitted so as be able to track down an air getting in issue on my Tdi.
Had same symptoms as yours, first start slow with some spluttering until system filled and pump self bled.
Ok then for the rest of the day but overnight a slow leak of air would allow fuel to drain back to tank.
With mine issue was a filter connection.
here's a more detailed thread about this whole NRV dillema https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/td5-fuel-issues-starting-issues-fix.319376/ so you can decide yourself where to fit it even though it can mess up things only if it's fitted and clogged, as long as it wasnt there it can't cause any issues so if you have fuelling problems it's something else for sure
