Hi guys, MOT due Saturday, I discovered under the front head lamp next to the front body mount a section of rust. Now does this come into the MOT its next to the body mount but its the headlight box. The headlights are secure, the body mount solid and what its attached to solid. See picture.

I think if its within a certain distance of a body mount then they will pick up on it but not sure to be honest

So to fix this I need to cut out the rust and plate it up similar to that of the opposite side?
theoretically, what the tester cant see, he cant test.
in reality, if theres enough corrosion that close to a body mount prior to preparation for welding, theres likely to be a lot more that you don't know about.
as you say, cut out the rust and plate it. don't know about the other side as we cant see it!
I would expect a fail from the pic, tho I wouldn't present it for a test looking like that either

Ive been patching for the mot. Mot is saturday, ive got a patch to the drivers floor, a patch to the drivers side rear arch right next to the seat belt point and now that. Cross member and two rear body mounts have been done. All arches look solid and the one sill could do with a patch but I wont have time for that so a bit of underseal can sort that through the mot hopefully.

The other side is solid its just that one that's gone.

Best to do it once and do it right.my mot tester looks around and taps with hammer.and bit fall he starts prodding.hence new footwell last year.get it welded up.they aint stupid and if its your daily drive then a fail puts it off the road.

My dads favourite comment when testing and it fails is "would you let your daughter drive it ? .... No .... Well you shouldn't either "

got to laugh a bit at the french mot here, rust does not come in to it unless it has sharp edges that could hurt a pedestrian, should have see the state of mine and it passed both rear mounts collaspes both rear sill mounts totally nackered rear archs gone sills gone inner wings and light boxs nackered.i did not keep it on the road for fear it would one day just drop off the chassis when i braked hard lol
