Hi guys, been looking at this on eBay, just wondering if It was a good project or not. The guy reckons the bulkhead is solid, the chassis is galved and the rear cross member. Reckons the pump timing is out as it runs lumpy and its the 2.5td engine which I don't know how good of an engine that is. It seems cheap to me though. He said he's only had it a month but wants something more capable for the winter. That should do everything our winters throws at it without batting an eyelid. Could there be something far more wrong with it? Im not a mechanic but im learning as I go lol.

In theory yes and ripe for a 200Tdi transplant

Must confess the 'only had it a month' coupled with the steering column shroud missing is a little odd

That said at least the doors and steering wheel match the age

Be sure to check chassis vin to V5 and run an HPI check

So a 200tdi would slot straight in, what gearbox are on these? Would It need the Lt77 gearbox and would that go straight in as well? I never noticed the steering column missing. I bet the chassis vin wont match the V5 if its had a new chassis bought and if the existing has been galved surely that would have covered the numbers? I suppose a HPI check and a V5 for that vehicle would be enough wouldn't it?

Whats he buying that more capable than a Fender:confused::confused::confused:
Where are you fella (Fill in you location), there might be someone local who would come and have a look with you in return for Beer, Chips, Cake;););)

Stourbridge mate in the midlands. Its only half hour for me to Telford.

He didn't mean another vehicle just one that is more off road ready. I asked him if he had the chassis galvanised.

"Iv had it about a month only reason im selling is iv decided to get one that is more off road ready for winter. The chasis was already galvanised. I have someone coming to view it tomorow dinner time. Were are you from?"

If the chassis swap was done properly the company supplying the chassis would stamp the existing vin number onto the galvanized chassis.

Engine looks a bit strange, the pipe work is different to mine and the power steering reservoir is on the opposite side and rad pipes are different.

a defender 200 tdi would bolt straight in with its rad and intercooler, disco a little more work with hoses etc,td uses an lt77 as welll as 200 tdi

Regards the chassis; Clarify if its a standard land rover chassis that has been galvanised(if so walk swiftly away) or if its a brand new galvanised chassis say from richards or similar.

Well, I got a puma chassis 2012 model. Got it shot blasted and chemically dipped. Then sent for galvanizing. Put a scope up it before and after. Looks ok to me. I suspose it would really depend on what year the chassis is etc etc.
