Just been giving the freelander (now 8 years old) a check up as we're towing the caravan soon for a holiday (yes the little buggers have gone back to school so it's safe to come out!)

So had the fault code reader plugged in and... no faults!
Yes I know it's hard to believe, but I am now the proud owner of a freelander without a single fault code. Has anyone else ever experienced these giddy hieghts? I think not.

Am now going to walk around for the next few days looking like a right smug B*stard.

Until something else falls of that is. :smokin:

Its saving it all up for when you're on holiday, then yer VCU will lock solid, yer IRD gonna explode and yer doors will fall off. :D

Seriously, its good news to hear of a Freelander that hasn't gone wrong in some way. Wish mine would do that sometimes. :D

Take a photo, mount it in a frame with the date and time and hang it in the garage. When it all goes horribly wrong, you're up to your elbows in grease and muck and swearing like Gordon Brown you can look back at it and remember the good times. Peace and serenity will fill your heart and you'll be lifted to that special place that is reserved for those whose Hippo hasn't gone wrong today.;)

I've deleted all the fault codes out of my Freelander, and none have come back. :)

Most were created when taking things apart whilst testing. Also removed the auto gearobox fault codes and they haven't reappeared either. Must have been recorded when the barrel connectors came apart.

:D:D:D:D

Here hippo, did you delete the fault codes and then stand there waiting for new ones to appear, without starting or driving the car. :D:D:D:D

Sorry, I'm in a funny mood this evening, could do with a drink I think!!

I deleted the codes, then went for a drive, making sure it got hot and went through all the gears several times. All ok now. It new I'd disconnected things like the seat belt tensioners etc when taking one of the seats out to gain access. Also had abs system probelms too, which have cleared due to fixing the 3 amigo's I think. All ok after 200 miles.

So here's a thing. Three days later and it's still working!!
Maybe I've died and gone to Landrover heaven where all Landrovers work, even P38's.
Or it could be a parallel universe where even Disco's don't rust.
Wherever I like it!
:hippie:

Yer code reader wont show up a window cable thats on its way out.Nor will it show up a knackered ball joint or bush.It wont show up a problem with your drive train. In fact it cant tell you much.
I haven't needed to use a tool of any sort on my 175,000 mile hippo in the last 3 or more months. Its running very nicely,,,touch wood.

Some people round here are a bit to smart!!

Went on hols and the bloomin rear door decided to make some grinding noises and stop working. So spent 2 weeks in Norfolk without being able to open the rear door.
Ever tried loading a 3 door freelander with all your holiday gear through the front door:(

Bought a new cable set off ebug for £20, looks a bit fiddly but will try and fit it soon.

Also the lower intercooler hose blew itself off, that makes one hell of a noise but fortunately easy to fix.

Normal service is now resumed, my freelanders broken again
