Got some sellers to send me on pics. They don't look as bad as that. Did that happen after you bought it over time[/QUOTE]

Yep it all started to be apparent over two years , i highly recommend d2 owners take the time and effort to get the underside steamed off and waxoyled

Ours is 1998 build and just passed its MOT with no advisories. It will need doing next year probably, bit only the bottom seam.

We've had it since 2009 and don't do daily runs on salted roads, that's what kills them.

Brought mine last week. Took ages to find one but it's worth the wait, don't rush in!!

Ah that is nice sir.

A disco 3 has come up for good money near me. He said timing belt and water pump done. It's 2005 with 100k on it. Should the oil pump have been done also. It's part of the 7 year service I think.

..... I'm missing

Finally got money together to buy a disco 2. Want an ES. Have seen 8 over the last two weeks and each one sold as I ring them. Final straw today guy puts ad up and he already had someone on the way with cash.:rolleyes: I give up.

Not wishing to spam but I have 2 for sale at the moment, been working away so I haven't advertised them

Well I did check mine out in detail re the chassis and even though it does have some surface rust, a bit of wire brushing, Hammerite & Waxoyl will sort her out.

Re DIII's by the way, they are prone to chassis rust as well.

Isn't it a great shame that LR can't make a decent, rust-free motor with sunroofs that don't leak?:cool:
Get some omnicote on the chassis its the mutts.did mine about 6 months back.got some on my mug and the dishwasher doesnt remove it.

Did you do it yourself and is it a very easy or messy job? Also would you say it's better than waxoyl?
Its way better than waxoyl that comes off after a while.the omnicote converts and seals the rust.its not at all messy.get it on yer hands and it washes off.anything else once its dry no chance.as i said dishwasher me mug daily and its still on.i also blew out chassis and filled chassis with rejel cavity wax and rust converter.bought 8 tins from the bay £48 came with 2 foot pipe to get into chassis.that is a bit messy.

used the small pot and 1/2 the tin, full chassis and back axel.front when and if weather improves.

today was slow work wise so I shot blasted my d2 then glass blasted it,treated it to 5 ltrs of waxoyl underneath & another 2 ltrs in the chassis so all should be good for a while:)

Looks Good!!! i do mine regular, did with the old disco, every year, lift it up rear first, spray waxoyl and gear oil into chassis, then lift front , do the same and all the excess waxoyl mix runs to the rear, puddles for a while when lowered, but get plenty in to them chassis's,
we have just serviced the telehandler and the gear oil from the axles is for the disco chassis next! thick sticky oil,

Finally got myself a disco 2. It was an hours drive thankfully from my house. It's a 2004 landmark model. Needs a bit of work mechanical wise. Got it for a song at €2,400 euros. Hopefully it's not a lemon.

That's a phenomenal price for a 2004 model - the very best of luck with it.

He was looking €3,300 but got it for €2,400. What it needs Sunroof motor, central locking problem, turbo return leaking, rear rocker leaking, this morning I think I released the fuel reg might be iffy. It's crunching in 1st and rev but luckily I have a fully recon box in my garage (as you do) needs 4 tyres and no tax. So when I get all these done. I'll be back up to the price of a decent one. Can do all the work myself so not bothered. Will stick pics up tomo. At night college tonight.
