I have a disco 200tdi in a 90, and get 30mpg on mixed driving. But on a long run - 120 miles to the caravan site, sitting at around 50-55, 35mpg was certainly possible.

$2.85 a gallon here. With a 36 gallon tank, it's about $85.00 for a fill up. Which gives me about 625 miles before next fill up.;):)

How lovely for you.

But you don't own any type of Landy so your post is completely irrelevant

This is a tech section, comparing engines isn't very helpful if you don't say what yours is and even then would be unhelpful to the OP.

I'll ignore the last sentence....for now.
So was your first response. as a member or as a MOD. Is your second response as being a MOD. It is rather difficult at times to tell if you got your member hat on, or your MOD hat on:confused:

My Mondeo averaged just over 57mpg on drive down to the Chunnel. It's dropped to 53mpg but it's been 40+ degrees and have been sat still with engine running for air con. It did over 700 mile on first tank. Good camping cruiser that. ''Tis why I don't use my beloved trattor for camping tours

I wonder if it may have something to do with the gear ratios. I’m not sure but the previous owner said that it had RRC differentials in the axels I wonder if the 2.5na (I’m assuming that was what was in it before the 200 tdi) had lower diff ratios
Defenders had the same diff ratios as Range Rover Classics, 3.54:1. What you might have is a Range Rover transfer box which were 1.22:1 as opposed to the Defender 1.41:1. Or you might have had a tail wind when doing you test! As others have said it is doable but long term testing will prove whether it was a glitch or a regular reading, enjoy either way. If you want great mpg buy a Toyota Yaris!!!!

My D2 Derv Auto does around 30mpg but I don't drive like a loon..

Well most of the time! ;)

A Mate had a 110 1987 with a 200 and he gets 33mpg consistantly..

My V8 RR got 24mpg if i behaved and a legit 6mpg when i went a bit nuts!!

Disco is £97 for a fill
RR was £180 but that accounted for the Petrol tank and LPG @134.4 a litre for Petrol at the time and 72ppl for LPG.

400mi from Petrol and around 240mi from the gas tank..

Gave me a combined

630-640 mile Range..

Not bad..

Oh and i do keep a Petrol journal - Not for the Tax man like my Grandfather but just out of habit ;)

Price in comparison to america is hilarious pez comes out the tap there!! ;)

Next time at pez station look at pumps. Used to be diesel/unleaded/4star. Now is diesel (looks like petrol)/unleaded/super opti meteor power or whatever. Is not cheap petrol

??

Still a big befuddled I didn't mention petrol types.

But anyway

An Esso Station near me literally 1mi away is charging 1.35ppl
And a Shell around 2mi away is charging 1.17ppl just depends.

Never used premium..

On gas it's now around 54ppl so even the 4.6 is cheap to run..

derv around me is also relatively cheap at around 1.28ppl.

Kind of wish they had put the TD5 or 6pot VM in the P38 instead of the BM unit..

I might have one ;)
