GLASS teams spent the weekend on the Wayfarer putting huge boulders in to stop all the off piste activity.

I now seems that, within a day of them finishing, someone has winched the boulders out of the way and driven off piste.

It's just crap what they do up there, the only way to catch them is some sort of surveillance. There's such good views up on the top you'd see anyone coming from miles away :(

Slightly off topic, round here they move stuff out of gateways just so they can drive all over fields hare coursing, fu.....ng pikeys!!!!

It's a pity that some people just don't give a toss about responsible laning, its a cracking view from the top and would be a real shame if it was lost due to the actions of a 'few' tw@s

And this is exactly why lanes are getting shut and we will soon have no-where to go :(

Can you set up something like a trail camera to catch people in the act of moving the boulders etc? I use them for recording deer and they work great night and day.

Deer don't nick the camera though, it's pretty remote and barren and also very popular with walkers and sheep

You can get ones that beam the photo to an email and you can also get good lockable ones.

Key would be hiding it so they don't know it's there then It won't get nicked - it's what councils do at fly tip sites etc

It's not just deer that there used for, we've got one looking onto a gate that has foiled loads of attempted poaching. Concealment is the key, even if they can see it as long as its locked up there's your deterent right there. Don't worry about the sheep, they take surprisingly funny photos/'selfies' and you'll be amazed at what you see some walkers doing.
Was just an idea is all.

I'm planning a second day to take bigger boulders up there with a better machine. Might have to camp out afterwards and see if they are watching our efforts and targeting the area as soon as possible after the event

You can always have a nice pleasant evening camping in the shooting hut, looks like a fine quality place to stay with its own indoor toilet ie the floor
