I have a spare input gear and endplate. What are you doing with your O/D?

You just remove/ detach the linkage
Remove the nuts securing the of to the transfer box and pull away.

Once it's off you'll see the drive clutch for the od on the gearbox output shaft remove this it's on with a lock tab and castle nut replace with the original gear. I undid the castle nut through the top cover I think putting the box in gear

The hole at the back has a cover plate and the one on top both need re fitting

Rather than start a new thread I thought I would redirect this one!
I am currently looking at an overdrive which is fitted to transfer/gearbox which is out of the vehicle. I am only interested in the overdrive, however removing it may prove problematic as the gear box is broken and putting it in gear does not lock the shaft to remove the castle nut.
Any suggestions how to lock the shaft with the box out of the vehicle and no way of selecting a gear?

Take TB bottom cover off and jam a piece of hardwood in the gears?:D:eek:
Or does it turn other way:confused:

Edit: Put in diff lock and Locke an output flange:) maybe.

I had considered both of those as possible options but did not know if they would actually work.

spooky, I was thinking about removing the overdrive from my 3 when it comes back Monday week. Mine has the toro overdrive on it.

Well my friend ended up buying it in the end so we will see how easy it is to jam up the box to remove the overdrive. Hopefully it won’t be too problematic to remove.

When you have it in front of you you will work it out easily I am sure:)

Let’s us know. I am sure you would anyway:)

Don't forget the O/D just pulls off once the flange nuts are undone. The castle nut faff is to get the "clutch" bearing assembley, since these are often knackered and easy to get its not the end of the world if you cant get them off.
